Wired or wireless...decisions decisions!
When you are buying a new hedge cutter the first question you need to ask is whether you need a mains powered hedge cutter or a battery powered hedge cutter.
So what's the difference (aside from the obvious)?
That's right, the most obvious difference is there are no trailing wires with a battery powered hedge cutter, why is that important? Well it stops people like me from cutting through the cable...twice in my case, luckily I had a safety plug attached.
Battery powered trimmer advantages
The main advantages with a battery powered hedge trimmer are:
- Weight - because they are powered by batteries they can be smaller and lighter machines, perfect for those with strength problems.
- Safety - as we've already established there are no cables to either trip over or cut through.
- Sound - we've noticed our battery powered hedge trimmer is noticeably quieter than our old cable driven trimmer.

Mains powered trimmer advantages
The main advantages with a mains powered hedge trimmer are:
Power - because they are mains powered these machines can cut through thicker branches with no problems.
